Preserving dignity for patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

In this project, two Design Factory Melbourne students collaborated with ANSTO, one of Australia’s largest public research organisations, to design a garment which could preserve patient dignity and provide comfort for patients undergoing breast cancer screening and treatment processes.

THE PARTNER

They work across areas such as health, the environment and the nuclear fuel cycle to find solutions to some of the biggest questions in science for the benefit of all Australians.

ANSTO Garment

CHALLENGE

Design a garment to preserve the dignity of patients whilst providing accuracy for cancer screening and treatment processes.

SOLUTION

The garment is a comfortable top which is designed to be used in and outside radiotherapy sessions, integrating seamlessly to the existing treatment process. Its features include an adjustable fitment, padding for comfort and elements for post-therapy care.

The garment preserves patient dignity, ensures comfort, alleviates side effects for breast cancer screening and treatment processes.
